The Rosary Confraternity is a spiritual association (of the Catholic Church), the members of which strive to pray the entire Rosary during the course of each week. They form a union of countless hundreds of thousands of the faithful throughout the world who, along with their own intentions, include the intentions and needs of all its members, while they in turn pray for them.

Since the Holy Father has recently added the five luminous mysteries, we encourage members of the Confraternity to include that extra weekly Rosary. However, we have as yet received no official statement regarding this matter. Those who recite only the fifteen traditional mysteries will continue to share in the benefits of the Confraternity until some official source declares the contrary.

As Pope Leo XIII said in his encyclical on the Confraternity, "whenever a person fulfills his obligation of reciting the Rosary according to the rule of the Confraternity, he includes in his intentions all its members, and they in turn render him the same service many times over."

Each member includes deceased fellow members as well; and thus he knows that in turn he will be included in the prayers of hundreds of thousands both now and hereafter. This led the Cure of Ars to say: "If anyone has the happiness of being in the Confraternity of the Rosary, he has in all corners of the world brothers and sisters who pray for him." The deceased cannot be enrolled in the Confraternity.

Read the obligations, benefits, indulgences, and Fifteen Promises of the Blessed Virgin to Christians who faithfully pray the Rosary. There is also a Rosary Confraternity Prayer.

THE ROSARY CONFRATERNITY'S OBLIGATIONS, BENEFITS, INDULGENCES and PROMISES

OBLIGATIONS

Each member strives to pray fifteen mysteries of the Rosary each week (this does not bind under sin), and must have his/her name inscribed in the register of the Confraternity. There are no meetings, no dues.

Since the Holy Father has recently added the five luminous mysteries, it would seem that members of the Confraternity should strive to include that extra weekly Rosary. However, we have as yet received no official statement regarding this matter. Those who recite only the fifteen traditional mysteries will continue to share in the benefits of the Confraternity until some official source declares the contrary.

THE ROSARY CONFRATERNITY'S BENEFITS

1. The special protection of the mother of God.
2. A share in the prayer of countless thousands of members the world over, and this even after death.
3. A share in the prayers, Masses and apostolic works of the entire Dominican Order.
4. The intercession of the entire heavenly court.
5. Various plenary and partial indulgences.
6. Six times a year the Rosary Center publication THE ROSARY, LIGHT AND LIFE is sent to those members who wish it. Its purpose is to provide sound doctrine and spiritual guidance for readers everywhere.

INDULGENCES IN GENERAL

1. An indulgence is the cancellation of temporal punishment due for sin, when the sin's guilt has already been pardoned.
2. An indulgence is partial if it frees the Christian partially from the temporal punishment due for his sins, plenary if it frees him wholly.
3. Both partial and plenary indulgences can always be applied to the dead, but only by way of suffrage.
4. Since the Apostolic Constitution of Pope Paul VI on Indulgences, a partial indulgence is no longer expressed in reference to time, i.e. days or years.
5. A plenary indulgence can be gained only once a day, except by those on the threshold of death.
6. To gain a plenary indulgence the person must perform the indulgenced act, and satisfy these conditions: Sacramental Confession, Holy Communion, prayer for the Pope's intention, and freedom from all attachment to sin, even venial sin. If this detachment is not present, or if any of the above conditions are not fulfilled, the indulgence is partial.

ROSARY INDULGENCES

1. For members of the Rosary Confraternity, a plenary indulgence, under the usual conditions, is granted:
a. on the day of enrollment. (When application is made, a certificate of membership is sent, indicating the day of the enrollment.)
b. on the following feast days: Christmas, Easter, Annunciation, Purification, Assumption, Our Lady of the Rosary, and Immaculate Conception.
2. For those who pray the Rosary, a plenary indulgence is granted under the usual conditions, when the Rosary is prayed in Church, or in a Public Oratory, in a family (family Rosary), Religious Community, or Pious Association. Otherwise a partial indulgence is granted.

FIFTEEN PROMISES OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN TO CHRISTIANS WHO FAITHFULLY PRAY THE ROSARY

1. To all those who shall pray my Rosary devoutly, I promise my special protection and great graces.
2. Those who shall persevere in the recitation of my Rosary will receive some special grace.
3. The Rosary will be a very powerful armor against hell; it will destroy vice, deliver from sin and dispel heresy.
4. The rosary will make virtue and good works flourish, and will obtain for souls the most abundant divine mercies. It will draw the hearts of men from the love of the world and its vanities, and will lift them to the desire of eternal things. Oh, that souls would sanctify themselves by this means.
5. Those who trust themselves to me through the Rosary will not perish.
6. Whoever recites my Rosary devoutly reflecting on the mysteries, shall never be overwhelmed by misfortune. He will not experience the anger of God nor will he perish by an unprovided death. The sinner will be converted; the just will persevere in grace and merit eternal life.
7. Those truly devoted to my Rosary shall not die without the sacraments of the Church.
8. Those who are faithful to recite my Rosary shall have during their life and at their death the light of God and the plenitude of His graces and will share in the merits of the blessed.
9. I will deliver promptly from purgatory souls devoted to my Rosary.
10. True children of my Rosary will enjoy great glory in heaven.
11. What you shall ask through my Rosary you shall obtain.
12. To those who propagate my Rosary I promise aid in all their necessities.
13. I have obtained from my Son that all the members of the Rosary Confraternity shall have as their intercessors, in life and in death, the entire celestial court.
14. Those who recite my Rosary faithfully are my beloved children, the brothers and sisters of Jesus Christ.
15. Devotion to my Rosary is a special sign of predestination.

Rosary Confraternity Prayer

Queen of the Most Holy Rosary and Mother of us all, we come to you for help in our sorrows, trials and necessities. Sin leaves us weak and helpless but Divine Grace heals and strengthens.

We ask for the grace to love Jesus as you loved Him, to believe as you believed, to hope as you hoped; we ask to share your purity of mind and heart. Give us true sorrow for sin and make us love people as you and Jesus loved them. Obtain for us the gifts of the Holy Spirit that we may be wise with your wisdom, understand with your understanding, know with your knowledge, prudent with your prudence, patient with your patience, courageous with your fortitude and desire justice ardently for everyone with the all consuming desire of the Sacred Heart of Jesus your Son.

Open our minds that as we pray the Rosary we will understand the teachings of the Gospel contained in its mysteries.

We pray especially for the members of the Rosary Confraternity whom we love. Help them wherever they may be; guide them, watch over them and make them strong in their trials and suffering. We are drawn together by a common bond of great charity for you and for each other; keep us faithful to your Son and to your Rosary till death.

Intercede for the souls in Purgatory, especially for the members of the Rosary Confraternity who have died. May they rest in peace. Finally we ask for grace of final perseverance for ourselves and for our loved ones that we may all be reunited in heaven forever.

Saint Dominic, you who received so much Grace and Strength from the Rosary, Pray for us.

What the Saints and Popes say about the Confraternity

St. Charles Borromeo esteemed the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary so highly that he ordered it to be erected in all parishes of his large Archdiocese of Milan.

St. Alphonsus de Liguori wrote on the usefulness of the Confraternity: “In the many missions I have preached, I have come to the conclusion that there are more sins in one single person who does not belong to the Confraternity of Mary than in twenty that do!”

The Curé of Ars said: “If anyone has the happiness of being in the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary, they have, in all corners of the globe, brethren who pray for them.” He added: “For a member of the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary to succeed in losing their soul, they would have to do as much violence to themselves as the other faithful do to save their souls, so abundant are the graces of this Confraternity.”

Pope Innocent VIII called it “a most devout Confraternity” (Splendor Paternæ Gloriæ, 26 February 1491).

Pope Leo XIII insisted very much on the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary, especially in the encyclicals Lætitiæ Sanctæ of 1893 and Augustissimæ Virginis Mariæ of 1897. Among the different associations,” he wrote inAugustissimæ Virginis Mariæ, we do not hesitate to give the place of honour to the Confraternity of the Holy Rosary.” After explaining how the Confraternity multiplies the benefits of the Rosary, he appealed to priests: “You ought to apply yourselves with the greatest zeal to founding, developing and directing these Confraternities of the Holy Rosary. This appeal is not only addressed to the sons of St. Dominic, for whom this is an important duty of their state, but to all priests who have the care of souls. It is also our earnest desire that missionaries, those who take the Gospel to pagan lands and those who preach in Christian countries, give themselves with equal zeal to this activity.” These appeals are still applicable today.

CELEBRATE DIVINE MERCY SUNDAY

The Second Sunday of Easter, April 11, 2010, is the day we celebrate Divine Mercy Sunday. On this special day, there will be an overflowing of Jesus' mercy, trust and forgiveness of sins. Our Lord Jesus declared:

"The soul that will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion on this day shall obtain complete forgiveness of sins and punishment. On that day all the divine floodgates through which graces flow are opened. Let no soul fear to draw near to Me, even though its sins be as scarlet.... Mankind will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy." (699)

"I desire that priests proclaim this great mercy of Mine towards the souls of sinners. Tell My priests that hardened sinners will repent on hearing their words when they speak about My unfathomable mercy, about the compassion I have for them in My Heart. To priests who proclaim and extol My mercy, I will give wondrous power; I will anoint their words and touch the hearts of those to whom they will speak." (Diary 50, 1521)

"The first Sunday after Easter is the Feast of Mercy, but there must also be acts of mercy....I demand from you deeds of mercy, which are to arise out of love for Me." (Diary, 742)

The Lord calls on us to spread his devotion on this special day to encourage fallen away Catholics to return to the practice of their faith and seek repentance. The feast is to be a "refuge for sinners". The promise of the total forgiveness of sins and punishment is the best motivational tool that we could ever find to get souls to come back to the practice of their faith. On this day, the image of the Divine Mercy should be displayed and venerated to serve as a reminder or symbol of God's gift of graces. It is a great idea to invite our friends and neighbors to go to Confession and Communion and take advantage of the plenary indulgence.

ABSTAINING FROM COMPLAINING

Complaining is the biggest sin one can do to himself. As pointed out on his book, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, T. Harv Eker said it best, When you are complaining you become a living, breathing crap magnet. Ever notice that the more you focus on what's wrong, you'll keep getting more negative things in your life as if you're attracting crap everyday. Complaining is certainly a bad habit that we need to eliminate for it breeds dissatisfaction, enmity and misery among other things. Although this may be easier said than done, it is possible to kick this atrocious practice. I tried this experiment that T. Harv Eker suggested. It was difficult for me in the beginning but eventually I succumbed to this wonderful challenge because, let's face it, being a crap magnet can get really depressing.

If you want to change your life right now, stop yourself from complaining. Cease and desist lamenting not just out loud but in your head as well. Do this for the next seven days. It is important to do this for a full 7 days because on the first few days , you may still have some residual crap inside of you. Sadly, crap doesn't travel at the speed of light, it moves at the speed of crap so it takes awhile to clear out.

I have failed this test a few times. 30 years of crap is truly hard to brush off. But thanks to a friend of mine, he finally made me see the light. He pointed out to me one day how I am always complaining about my hubby. Then I realized that every time we chat, 85% of my messages were all about whining and complaining. It was an aha moment, a wake up call indeed. No wonder I was so dissatisfied with my life. Yes, I am chronic complainer. I was ever focusing on the all negative aspects of my existence and not my blessings. Must start maintaining an attitude of gratitude and stop complaining. The moment I decided to end the pattern of blaming and justifying, instantly a heavy burden was lifted off of my whole being. It was a fantastic feeling to purge all that crap inside.

I'm proud to say that I'm in the neutral zone right now, devoid of complaining inside and out. I have also decided to keep a gratitude journal and make a list of all the small and big blessings of each day that passes. This will help me focus on the positive side of things and view obstacles as opportunities to learn and improve myself. If I keep this up I will gradually attract more things to be grateful for and the universe will adjust itself to accommodate my picture of reality, that's according to a bumper sticker.

I HEALED MY MOTHER FROM WITCHCRAFT through the Lord's help of course

My mother came to me a few months ago complaining about her aching back, blurry eyesight and constant migraine. As a healing hobbyist, I figured this had something to do with wrong diet and unhealthy lifestyle. I kept telling her to practice fasting and abstinence once in awhile to purge out all the toxins in her body. But she loves her food so we didn't think that something supernatural was causing it.

It was good timing that I just attended the healing rally of Bro. Bob Canton at the Kerygma Conference that week when I met with my mother. By that time she was in great pain. She felt she was dying. Her head felt like it was about to explode and her eyes hurt so much, plus her back was too much to bear. So I placed my hand on her head and prayed over her. Like Bro. Bob, I tried to heal her by the Blood of Jesus. That's when things got intense.

We both felt an evil presence and names popped in both of our heads. The names of 2 witches, our long time enemies. My mother is being attacked again by voodoo. And as a long time healer and deliverer from witchcraft, I knew what I had to do. It was automatic, I exorcised the demons that were hurting my mom. Raising my left hand to the sky, I asked for God's mercy. And through His powerful name, in Jesus' name, I rebuked the demons by tapping on the back of her head more than 5 times in an effort to give her courage and make her feel God's power. This was done with a lighted candle and I sprinkled Holy water on her too, for the devil hates Holy water. Yet we were getting nervous for we could still sense the anger in the air, the scorn of the witches that has put a spell on my mother.

In such an instance I always pray the Invocation to St. Michael, very powerful and effective exorcism prayers. After the invocation, we both felt like a dark, heavy cloud has left us. My mom was instantly relieved and healed from whatever curse befell her. Thanks to the help of St. Michael and through the Blood of Jesus, she was free from pain and persecution. But as wounded as she was, my mom and I didn't wish our enemies ill-will. We didn't take revenge on them because we know that playing with dark and evil forces will only result in hellish consequences. I attended the Kerygma Conference last November 28-29 at the Araneta Coliseum and as expected it was indeed compelling and life-changing. Bro. Bo Sanchez and his fellow preachers did not disappoint. For me, there were 2 highlights from this wonderful Catholic learning event (although I enjoyed every moment of it all). The first one is the part where Bro. Bo Sanchez unearthed a black, shiny coffin on centerstage to talk about the importance of how we use our time in this world and our responsibility to serve God in this life. And the best part is the healing session led by Bro. Bob Canton where he healed the blind, the deaf and the lame. Bro. Bob even taught the audience how to pray over and heal one's self through the blood of Jesus.

I have never attended a prayer rally or a healing rally at that. You might say I am pretty skeptical about such gatherings. But I can truly attest that Bro. Bob Canton is the real deal. I was healed myself that day. And it is amazing how humble and open Bro. Bob is to God's power. His powerful disclaimer...I am only God's instrument, I am not the one who is healing everybody right now. By the blood of Jesus you will be healed of your sickness.

He prayed over us, the crowd prayed over each other. As my seat mate prayed over me that day, I felt something pop on my left side just below the breast bone. This is where I feel pain whenever I get a GERD attack. After I felt a something pop, I felt it melt and leave a painful trace going downward. Like some poison oozing out of me. It was a breathtaking experience. I will never doubt the power of prayer and healing ever again. As I saw later how the blind have seen and the lame has walked. I felt immense joy and also shame for doubting God's power. Not only was I healed, but I'm sure my personal demons have been exorcised that moment.

Bro. Obet Cabrillas, preacher, mentioned that last day how we should be careful what we ask God during the Conference. He remembers the time when he was there at the bleachers during the first year of K-Con and how we wanted so much to be one of Bro. Bo's preachers. Lo and behold he was there a few years later, speaking on the same stage where Bro. Bo preaches. And I think to myself, I could be a preacher sure. But I know my calling is not to preach. But when I saw Bro. Bob heal the attendees of K-Con, I knew God has spoken to my heart. I will have my own healing ministry one day. I was born to heal and set people free from their personal demons. This is my calling. And I recall how I have healed my parents and relatives who have been victims of witchcraft. Everything makes sense now. All my struggles with 3 witches and how they have wrecked my well-being and my family's as well definitely has a purpose. I have seen how the power of prayer and fasting has saved my life multiple times. It is a gift that has to be shared with others. And I am willing to help and save more souls.

BE A PRAYER WARRIOR OF THE HOLY SOULS TODAY and save your own soul

I opened up an email message one time from a fellow blogger who referred me to this website PRAYER WARRIOR OF THE HOLY SOULS. Out of habit, I visited the site and instantly signed up to become a member. Weeks later, I received a complimentary starter kit containing prayers, leaflets and the booklet READ ME OR RUE IT through snail mail. Little did I know that this booklet, Read Me or Rue It, will change the way I live forever.

Until I read the booklet, I never really gave much importance to prayers for the dead. And I never gave much thought to the reality of Purgatory because this place has rarely been discussed or paid much attention to. Purgatory is very different than what I imagined it to be, according to the booklet Read me or Rue it, it is a prison of fire in which nearly all souls are plunged after death and in which they suffer the most intense pain.

St. Thomas of Aquinas, the Prince of Theologians, says that the fire of Purgatory is equal in intensity of the fire of Hell, and that the slightest contact with it is more dreadful than all the possible sufferings of this Earth.

St. Augustine, the greatest of the Holy Doctors, teaches that to be purified of their faults prior to being admitted to Heaven, souls after death are subjected to a fire more penetrating, more dreadful than anything we can see, or feel, or conceive in this life.

“Though this fire is destined to cleanse and purify the souls”, adds the Holy Doctor, “still it is more acute than anything we can possibly endure on Earth.”

St. Cyril of Alexandria does not hesitate to say: “that it would be preferable to suffer all the possible formats of Earth until Judgment day, than pass one day in Purgatory.”

Another great Saint says: “Our fire, in comparison with the fire of Purgatory is a refreshing breeze.”

Man, with his weaknesses, would likely suffer and undergo purification in Purgatory after death. If priests and nuns serve their time in Purgatory, what more us ordinary people who give in to various pleasures of the world without much thought on how we offend God with our actions everyday. This should serve as a wake up call to each one of us who live our lives without consequence.

Without realizing it, is our duty to pray for poor souls in Purgatory. Like the living, the dead need our help and prayers to be freed from this suffering. The power of prayer extends even to other world. The simple prayer of St. Gertrude is invoked for poor souls in purgatory and for living sinners. Our Lord told St. Gertrude that the following prayer would release 1000 souls from purgatory each time it is said.

"Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen."

In return, holy souls pray for their benefactors with a fervour so great, so intense, so constant that God can refuse them nothing.

St. Catherine of Bologna says: “I received many and very great favours from the Saints but still greater favours from the Holy Souls.”

Then they are finally released from their pains and enjoy the beatitude of Heaven, far from forgetting their friends on earth, their gratitude knows no bounds. Prostrate before the Throne of God they never cease to pray for those who helped them. By their prayers they shield their friends from the dangers and protect them from the evils that threaten them.

They will never cease these prayers until they see their benefactors safely in Heaven and will be forever their dearest, sincerest and best friends.

If Catholics only know what powerful protectors they secure by helping the Holy Souls they would not be so remiss in praying for them.

Another great grace that they obtain for their helpers is a short and easy Purgatory, or possibly its complete remission.

Blessed John of Messias, the Dominican lay brother, had a wonderful devotion to the souls in Purgatory. He obtained by his prayers, (chiefly by the recitation of the Rosary), the liberation of one million four hundred thousand souls!

In return they obtained for him the most abundant and extraordinary graces and came at the hour of his death to help and console him and accompany him to Heaven.

This fact is so certain that it is inserted by the Church in the Bull of his Beatification.

The learned Cardinal Baronius, recounts a similar incident.

He was himself called to assist a dying gentleman. Suddenly a host of blessed spirits appeared in the chamber of death, consoled the dying man and chased away the devils who sought by a last desperate effort to cause his ruin.

When asked who they were, they answered that they were eight thousand souls whom he had released from Purgatory by his prayers and good works. They were sent by God, so they said, to take him to Heaven without his passing one moment n Purgatory.

St. Gertrude was fiercely tempted by the devil when she came to die. The evil spirit reserves a dangerous and subtle temptation for our last moments. As he could find no other ruse sufficiently clever with which to assail the Saint, he thought to disturb her beautiful peace of soul by suggesting that she would surely remain long years in the awful fires of Purgatory since, he reminded her, she had made over long ago all her suffrages to other souls. Our Blessed Lord, not content with sending His angels and the thousand of souls she had released, to assist her, came Himself in person to drive Satan away and comfort His dear Saint. He told her that in exchange for all she had done for the Holy Souls He would take her straight to Heaven and would multiply a hundred fold all her merits.

Blessed Henry Suso, of the Dominican Order, made a compact with a fellow religious to the effect that when one of the two died the survivor would offer two Masses each week for his soul and other prayers as well.

It so happened that his companion died first and Blessed Henry commence immediately to offer the promised masses. These he continued to say for a long time. At last quite sure that the soul of his saintly friend had reached Heaven, he ceased offering the masses.

Great was his sorrow and consternation when the soul of the dead Brother appeared to him suffering intensely and chiding him for not celebrating the promised masses.

He replied with deep regret that he had not continued the mass believing that his friend must be enjoying the Beatific Vision and added that he had never remembered him in prayer.

“O dear Brother Henry please give me the masses, for it is the Precious Blood of Jesus that I most need”, cried out the suffering soul.

Blessed Henry began anew and, with redoubled fervour, offered masses and prayers for his friend until he received absolute certitude of his delivery.

Then it was his turn to receive graces and blessings of all kinds from the dear brother he had relieved, and very many times more than he could have expected.

Fortunately, the alternative to optimism is not pessimism, which can be equally delusional. What we need here is some realism, or the simple admission that, to paraphrase a bumper sticker, "stuff happens," including sometimes very, very bad stuff. We don't have to dwell incessantly on the worst-case scenarios — the metastasis, the market crash or global pandemic — but we do need to acknowledge that they could happen and prepare in the best way we can. Some will call this negative thinking, but the technical term is sobriety. - Barbara Ehrenreich

I couldn't help nodding in agreement over the Time Magazine article I read last weekend entitled Overrated Optimism: The Peril of Positive Thinking. I was one of the many who have fallen prey to the thriving industry of the so-called thought reform to overcome negative thinking. Yes, I read The Secret, made my own vision board and kept convincing myself that I will soon have that pearl white Ranger Rover on my driveway very soon. It was encouraging and exciting at first, believing in the power of the mind and what it can achieve.

But reality kept kicking in and slamming it's doors in front of my face. It was not very long when I came to realize that becoming a millionaire and paying off my debt is not a walk in the park. It cannot be willed into extinction and my mind cannot sway the thoughts of my creditors. My positive mind cannot succeed without the labor of my hands. It was a good way to escape and forget my problems for awhile but later on the truth will sneak up on you. Like most fads, this optimism phenomenon has turned more into a marketing tool than an answered prayer to all its patrons.

It is not bad to dream big and hope for something better. But we have to work hard to achieve our goals and be realistic about our expectations. We have to be committed to plan ahead and take action. For planning without building is just plain useless. It will not lead you anywhere. Being positive is not an end but the means to act and grow and build our aspirations. In my case, I wanted to be financially free. And it is plain laziness to keep projecting good vibes everyday without putting much effort on how to achieve financial freedom. I have to work hard on it by taking such steps like reading financial books, learning new skills, saving money, starting a small business or sideline, investing my earnings and so on. The real peril of optimism is apathy. Most of us want instant gratification so much that the line between reality and make believe seems blurry. Admittedly, I have tried to make my problems go away by soaking up on books focused on positive thinking without realizing that there are no instant answers, only more questions and dilemmas pop up because these so-called gurus have sugarcoated their affirmative philosophies in their products just to sell and be famous. In real life, there are no instant solutions. You cannot solve all your problems just by reading 1 good book or buying a DVD that claims it can change your life. That's not how it works, unfortunately. Everything natural in this world undergoes a process and to disrupt the machinations of nature surely has its pitfalls. All things created in this world have a purpose though we may not understand it and we must respect it and learn from it.

Newton's law states that for every action (force) in nature there is an equal and opposite reaction. My biggest sin was not living within my means. So now I must bear the consequences of my actions. No matter how much I regret spending the money I did not own, I feel grateful for making this mistake because it has opened up a world that I never knew before. I have learned about financial literacy and spiritual maturity along the way and I feel so blessed with all the knowledge and wisdom that I have gained throughout that process of purification. That's how life is really...Live and learn or Trial and error and of course Love and forgiveness.

The most important thing that I am grateful for despite my difficulties and trials is God's Word. The bible is the greatest reference book on how to live a meaningful and blessed life. And Jesus is the perfect example on how to achieve our full potential as human beings. Like Jesus, we have to be mature enough to take up our cross and accept our fate. We must all learn to accept our crosses and take responsibility for our actions. Bad stuff happens but failure is a part of life and it is the only hindrance to success. We need to be tried and tested first to bring out the best in us. Otherwise we would lose character and wisdom. Who wants to live without depth and meaning? I know I don't.

The problem today is many desire Heaven, but few desire to carry My cross. Many want consolation, but yet refuse to accept the trials that come their way. Many want instant answers, but refuse to wait patiently. This is so, because many do not want to suffer or give themselves totally to Me. This is because of one’s degree of love for me which, for many, is so little. Many only praise Me when all is going well, but when unexpected trials come their way, they lose trust in Me. Some then deny that I, your Lord, exist. - Jesus Christ

I was attending Mass in a Cathedral in Mindanao when something caught my eye while passing by their small bulletin board. It was an article about God's call for everyone to be His apostle. He has chosen Anne, a lay apostle and mother of six, to spread Jesus, Mary, God the Father, and many saints' messages which is called The Volumes. Anne received them and recorded them for heaven through a process called interior locution.

When I got home I googled Anne the lay apostle and was very pleased with the results. I came upon the official website Direction For Our Times and here some facts about God's modern messages for everyone, Catholic or not.

Where do the messages in the Volumes come from?

The messages in the ten Volumes have been given to Anne, a lay apostle, by Jesus, Mary, God the Father, and many saints. Anne received them and recorded them for heaven through a process called interior locution.

What is an interior locution?
Anne states: "I hear the messages in my soul. I do not hear them with my physical sense of hearing. People often wonder about the difference between an interior locution and the inspirations one receives during deep prayer. I can only speak for myself but I will say this. For me, it is the difference between listening and speaking. If Jesus is talking, I am listening. It is a passive act in that I am not constructing sentences or putting words together. It is a heavenly event and you understand that you have been touched by heaven. In my early twenties, when I began to experience locutions, I walked on air for days after each one. There is no mistaking it. You know it is heaven speaking and you know it is heaven communicating with you."

Definition - INTERIOR LOCUTION
What is an interior locution? First of all, it is necessary to make clear that it is not something strange or sensational, but a mystical phenomenon present in the life of the Church and described in manuals of spiritual theology. It is not a sensorial communication with Jesus, Our Lady or the saints such as takes place in authentic apparitions. Here one does not see with the eyes, hear with the ears, nor does one touch anything. Nor is it simply a good inspiration, that light which the Holy Spirit normally causes to pour down into the minds and hearts of those who pray and live by faith. In the case of an authentic phenomenon, the interior locution is that gift by which God wishes to make something known and to help someone carry something out as well as the outward clothing of this gift, in terms of human thoughts and words, according to the style and the way of writing of the person who receives the message.

The person becomes an instrument of communication, while still maintaining his full freedom, which is expressed in an act of assent of the Holy Spirit. While receiving the word from the Lord, the person’s intellect remains, as it were, inactive: that is to say, it does not search for thoughts or for a way to express them as, for example, would be the case when one is writing a letter or preparing a demanding discourse. In a nutshell, what do these messages tell us to do?
The messages are a heavenly call to action. They are urgent messages from God announcing that He is reclaiming His kingdom from the darkness that has spread over the earth. Jesus is asking us to join Him as lay apostles, helping Him in the great work of renewal that will convert millions of people worldwide. His call is urgent, and yes, He is calling you.

What is a “lay apostle?”
Lay apostle is the title given by Jesus to those who answer His call to work in this mission. Your apostleship can be a private one, or one you share with your small circle of friends and family. You may even be called to a more active role as an organizer, speaker, helper, etc. In your heart, you will know what that role is. Jesus will show you.

Can anyone be a lay apostle?
Yes. Lay apostles come from all walks of life, from all faiths, and from all nations.

Is the end of the world coming soon? Is Jesus really returning to the earth now?
Nowhere in His messages does Jesus say the world is ending soon. He does, however, say He is returning to the earth “now.” That does not necessarily mean a return in the sense that we will see him physically descending on a cloud in the near future. As souls convert to God, Jesus returns to the earth one soul at a time, a process that eventually lifts the darkness. The question of when He physically returns is as unknown to us as it was to the original Apostles. His advice, as you recall from the Scriptures, is to be “always watchful.”

Why does Anne continue to be anonymous?
Anne works anonymously because Jesus and Mary have instructed her to do so. She is the mother of six children, and heaven seeks to protect her family from undue publicity. Each detail of the mission is completed in obedience to heaven, under the watchful eye of the Church.

As the Blessed Mother said to Anne on April 16, 2005:

“I want you to retain your private life as a mother and wife. In order for this to be possible, souls must obey my instructions. Anne, you will speak for Jesus and represent this mission. When you are speaking, you are Anne. When you are working for this mission, you are Anne. When you are serving your family at home or away from home, you are a mother and wife and you belong to your family. Souls must be respectful of this because your vocation must be protected. If the situation arose that you were serving this mission and your family was suffering, we would take you from the mission. You have a heavenly duty, Anne, so please advise souls to be respectful. You will bring great graces to others but only through obedience to heaven. I will help you with each situation but we are serious about this distinction of service. Your family will not suffer. I am personally appealing to each soul to respect this woman’s anonymity.”

Are these messages for Christians only?
Not at all. God wants all of His creatures to come in from the darkness. The Volumes were given to people of every faith, as well as to those who have no faith at all.

FASTING METHODS TO SAVE YOUR LIFE

Real starvation cannot possibly set in so long as these body stores remain in even small degree, but death from accumulated toxins can occur much earlier than this. - Dr. Hay

Fasting is the most effective cure unbeknownst to the moden man. Jesus and many prophets before him fasted for 40 days to prepare themselves for any great undertaking. According to Dr. Hay, fasting, as a purifier of both body and mind it is without doubt the thing par excellence for the purpose, for not only is the body again as that of a new-born babe, but the mind is purged of unrighteous thoughts, and is occupied with the higher things of life, thus greatly aiding spiritual growth. Not only that, abstaining completely from food kills many microorganisms and parasites in the body and flushes out toxins naturally. Diseases and ailments like ashthma, emphysema, sinusitis, migraine, heart ailment, ulcer, gout, neuritis, sciatica, cirrhosis, tuberculosis, epilepsy,paralysis, gallstones, sexual problems, Parkinson's disease, gastritis, goiter and many, many others. But one must be prepared before attempting to fast and this is by enduring a Cleansing Diet first. This method must be done from 1-2 weeks. To start, one must only consume fresh fruits and vegetables and much better if its organic. Breakfast should consist of fresh fruit, while Lunch must serve vegetables and Dinner must be fruit again. Never consume fruits and vegetables at the same time for fruits are digested in an hour while vegetables take 4 hours. Do this for 3-6 days. After that, stop eating solid food and consume only fruit juices for the next 3-6 days. Only then can one undergo fasting from food. Here is a list of recommended fruits and vegetables you can eat to help flush out toxins from your body.

Fruits: papaya, pineapple, grapes, apple, watermelon, pear, strawberry, pomelo, orange, banana, coconut and lemon.

Vegetables: Cucumber, carrots, lettuce, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, spinach and other green leafy vegetables.

There would be felt improvements in the state of one's health after the cleansing diet but remember that this is just a prelude to our main goal, healing and restoration through Fasting. Fasting can be done for at least 3 days to 40 days depending on the severity of the illness. The benefits of fasting include:

More energy
Healthier skin
Healthier teeth and gums
Better quality sleep
A clean and healthy cardiovascular system
A decrease in anxiety and tension
Dramatic reduction or complete elimination of aches and pains in muscles and joints
Decrease or elimination of headaches

Elimination of stored toxins
Improvement with a wide variety of chronic degenerative health conditions, including autoimmune disorders

Here are different methods of fasting that one can do. I do suggest fasting at least once a month for this is good practice for the body and soul.

1. Water Fast - The body will have to thrive on water only. Drink at least 3 glasses for breakfast, lunch and dinner. This is the fastest way to eliminate toxins from the body but it is also the hardest method. But with prayer and sacrifice one can go along way with just water.

2. Orange juice Fast - Drink at least one pint of fresh squeezed orange juice each day, preferably organic. You can also buy cartons from the supermarket as long they are 100% juice not from concentrate. The first 3 mornings, mix 1-2 teaspoons of Epsom salts in a glass of distilled water (250ml) to cleanse the colon or you can use Dr. Tam's Miracle Tea for the same effect. And on the 3 evenings, take a cool enema before bed.

3. Coconut juice Fast - The coconut has strong anti-bacterial and cleansing properties and it is also very filling and very delicious (at least for me). Fortunately, this is widely available in the Philippines and in other tropical countries as well. Consume at least 10 coconuts a day and you can go ahead and eat the coconut meat only for dinner.

4. Juice Fast - With a juicer or a blender, extract juices of fruits and vegetables then drink. Fruit juices in the morning and at night. During lunch you can drink vegetable juices.

5. Bread and Water Fast - Drink water and then eat bread during meal time. Freshly baked bread especially the pandesal is highly recommended.

6. One-Meal-A-Day Fast - This is what I tried when I did the 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting. I would only eat rice and viand at dinner time then drink only water and pray throughout the day. I lost 30 pounds then and in return gained so much knowledge and wisdom.

People who fast and abstain are the ones who appreciate their food more. Avoiding food that are greasy and fried will help your palate truly taste the goodness of luscious fruits and yummy vegetable dishes. Fasting is also an opportunity for us to be kind to our bodies. It will help our digestive system rest and let our body concentrate on healing and purging toxins. It is important to clean the colon before or during the early stages of fasting so that there will be a proper exit point for these waste materials to pass through and not contribute to deficient drainage. I truly hope you will find the time, dear reader to pick your method and start taking care of your health. We only have one body and we must do some house cleaning for no one else will.

2 SQUARE MEALS A DAY...A BETTER WAY TO EAT

There is nothing compelling about hunger, but about appetite there is the greatest compulsion, the dreadful gnawing sensation driving one to eat almost anything that is offered, even civilized men eating each other when driven by this compelling desire or goaded on by their atavistic fear of starvation. - Dr. William Howard Hay

The very first thing I want to abstain from is food. It is so easy to be a glutton these days. We keep feeding our bodies with the wrong kinds of food which can lead not only to disease but also to the deterioration of our souls. Sir William Arbuthnot Lane, one of the really great surgeons of the world and of all time once said: “Gentlemen, I will never have cancer; I will never die of cancer; and what I am doing to prevent it, anyone can do.” He also said: “After all, there is but one disease—deficient drainage.” And another great American surgeon, Dr. George W. Crile of Cleveland said not long ago: “There is no natural death; all deaths from so-called natural causes are merely the end-point of a progressive acid saturation.”

After I did the 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting two years ago, I went back to my old eating habits. I resumed consuming 3 meals a day with snacks in between. As a typical Filipino, all my meals included white rice and meat while my snacks consisted of sweets or junk food. Little did I know that this was detrimental to my health. Remember the gospel about the evil spirit who came back with a vengeance.

²⁴"When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, 'I will return to the house I left.' ²⁵When it arrives, it finds the house swept clean and put in order. ²⁶Then it goes and takes seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first." - Luke 11:24-26

Fasting is the most effective way to detoxify and cleanse the body. Once I have purged all the toxins from my vital organs, I made the mistake of introducing the wrong kinds of food almost immediately and going back to my old habits in eating. This is the reason why fasting and flushing is not for everyone. For living healthy and disease-free is a commitment, a life long exercise in self-discipline and self-control. Due to my lack of foresight, I acquired GERD or Gastroesophageal reflux disease, a chronic digestive disease that occurs when stomach acid or bile flows back into the esophagus. The backwash of acid irritates the lining of the esophagus and causes acid reflux and heartburn. This backflow has even aggravated my condition thus severely affecting my throat. Now I also have LPR or Laryngopharyngeal reflux. Whenever I eat acidic food, acid reaches my throat and damages it. I experience chronic cough, choking episodes, trouble breathing, or “rawness” in the throat when it gets really bad.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't get this disease overnight. GERD is a problem of modern life. Smoking, poor eating habits, obesity, alcohol abuse, and stress all fuel the fire of heartburn. It just so happens that my symptoms have intensified at the time when I was becoming aware of what real cure is against medical fallacies. It was God's will for me to procure this disease in order to absorb all the knowledge that I needed when it comes to open source healing, naturopathy and self-applied prevention. It is so true that the average person has no interest in health until their health is ailing. Only when things get hopeless with the ailing person, that's the time they turn to natural and herbal remedies. I guess I was just lucky or let me rephrase that, I was blessed by the Lord for showing me the truth. And I truly feel that it is my mission to spread the reality of disease and its cure. Drugs and surgery are not the answer to disease my dear friends and neighbors, the cure lies within all of us. Indeed blessed are the poor for they do not have the means to buy those expensive drugs and high-tech treatments. They are better off without it! What they need are the right resources and education when it comes to understanding Nature and what causes disease.

Thank God for my LPR/GERD. I have learned the difference between acid and alkaline foods. Acid accumulation or acid saturation, the endpoint of disease or the cause of death, means too much intake of acidic food. Consuming alkaline food leads to strong resistance to disease, fast recovery and clean blood supply. While eating acidic food can cause indigestion, constipation and fermentation, all leading to deficient drainage. Food is a direct cause of disease because it is the only source through which we can create these acids. And the body suffers much because its digestive and purgative functions are impaired by acidosis or over-acidity. Suffering from GERD has forced me to watch what I eat and to maintain a healthy lifestyle. If I didn't have this disease, I wouldn't have guessed what acid saturation meant. Knowledge is key to longevity and of course, frugality.

At present, I have stopped eating breakfast after learning that the food taken during this time is not actually converted into energy not until we are asleep when digestion's final conversion takes place, the sugars being converted to glycogen and stored for the next day. This means that the most important meal is actually dinner time when the activities of the day are over and digestion still has time to complete itself before midnight, so that the hours of sleep may still be devoted to preparing this mass of nourishment for use the next day. It was said that the Roman army fed but once a day, and these men are the deadliest beings that ever walked the earth next to dinosaurs. It has also been said that one third of what we eat keeps us alive, the other two thirds keeps the doctor alive, and there is more than a grain of common sense in this saying (source: Dr. Hay). Hence, gluttony is not only bad for our souls but also for our physical well-being. That is why I now eat 2 square meals each day and have obliterated snacks in between to lessen the odds of acidosis and wrong food combination. Eventually I have learned how to utilize the Acid/Alkaline food chart to my advantage and have created a blog that I named GERD Recipes, a vegetarian and fruitarian perspective. I hope dear reader that you have discovered something valuable from me and have changed the way you perceive food and how it contributes to disease formation. Now I leave you with the Laws of Natural Health that I picked up from a booklet entitled Cleansing Diet by E.R. Baron.

Laws of Natural Health

1. Nutrition - Avoid snacking and eat only 1-2 square meals per day. Lessen your consumption of sweets like candy, cake, ice cream, donuts, soft drinks, chocolate, etc. for it weakens the functionality of the white blood cells in defending the body against both infectious diseases and foreign materials. Sugar disables the white blood cells to effectively eliminate bacteria and search for microbes. Too much sugar impairs the nervous system also.

2. Exercise - We must exercise for 30-45 minutes every 4-5 days in a week. The time spent on exercise is never wasted. Brisk walking is the best form of exercise. It helps in the circulation of the blood and boosting the mind and body's energy.

3. Water - Drink 8-10 glasses (250 ml.) per day. That is 1 glass of water for every 7 kilograms of your weight. If your urine is clear, then it means that you are drinking enough water.

4. Sunlight - Getting enough sunlight for 10 minutes each day is the body's daily dose of Vitamin D, which is essential in fighting germs and strenghthens the immune system.

5. Temperance - Avoid drinking alcohol or caffeine like beer, hard liquor, coffee, tea, soft drinks, etc. All of these damages the nervous system including the brain. Stop smoking also.

6. Air - While we sleep we inspire, respire, twice as much air per minute as when awake, as you will easily note by watching the deep breathing of the sleeper, unless this be composed largely of exercise, or if one is quiet, twice as much oxygen enters the lungs during these eight hours as during the eight hours of recreation or engaged at sedentary occupation, and if he takes little exercise, then he uses as much oxygen while sleeping as7. Rest - Sleep at least 7-8 hours everyday and longer if you are sick.
during the sixteen waking hours. This fact should emphasize the importance of fresh air in the sleeping quarters. This is according to DR. Hay. Take deep breaths during the day and breathe fresh air frequently during the day.

8. Trust in God - Faith and trust in God leads to less stress and worry because there is a belief in the power and grace of God's guidance and healing. Prayer plays an important role in healing and love is its driving force. People who have trust in God grow spiritually and mentally.

I'M NOT A SAINT

No I'm not. And I don't think I'll ever be one. But I do like imitating their lives and reading up on them better than say rock stars or movie stars. I find the glamorous lives of celebrities to be disturbing and depressing. I would rather unravel great stories of human struggle and divine triumph for I am a sucker for happy endings. Take for example the life of Padre Pio of Pietrelcina, who had the gift of stigmata. God endowed Padre Pio with many extraordinary spiritual gifts and charisms including the gift of healing, bilocation, prophecy, miracles, discernment of spirits, the ability to abstain beyond man's natural powers from both sleep and nourishment, the ability to read hearts, the gift of tongues (the ability to speak and understand languages that he had never studied), the gift of conversions, levitation, multiplication of food, the grace to see his guardian angel and other angelic beings in form, and the fragrance which emanated from his wounds and which frequently announced his invisible presence. But inspite of all these gifts, Padre Pio remained humble and felt unworthy to receive such graces. He was known to practice fasting, vigils, solitude and various other mortifications which played an important role in his spiritual development, strengthening him in virtue and liberating his spirit from all selfishness. He abstained from watching television, listening to the radio and reading the newspaper and cautioned his spiritual children from all forms of media.

A couple of years ago, I read this article of Bro. Bo Sanchez entitled 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting. He invited his readers on a 40 Day prayer and fasting during the Lenten Season. Aside from the spiritual benefits, he elaborated the many healing and cleansing properties of abstaining from food. Here are some of the blessings that fasting brings:

It was Lenten season in 2007 when I tried the 40 Days of Prayer and Fasting. I did the One-Meal-a-Day Fast and it was truly challenging especially since I was working during the day and would only eat at night. All day I would consume nothing and sip some water. When I felt the pangs of hunger, I would pray to God or read spiritual books and make Jesus or His Word my nourishment. This went on for 23 days. But on the 24th day I had to give it up because I didn't have the strength to go on fasting. This ordeal was truly the most challenging yet most gratifying experience of my life. I may have lost 30 pounds but I gained so much wisdom from it and the spiritual high was really mystifying. I wanted to do this every year but my family was not comfortable with the idea for I acquired GERD eventually. But I can guarantee that there will be a next time. Actually, I am making everyday fasting and abstinence day. In my own way, I vow to fast and abstain from indulgences and luxuries each day. It may be in a small or large manner. But however which way that I choose to sacrifice some of life's pleasures each day, I am sure that this will help me grow spiritually and mentally as a Christian. And I will find favor in the eyes of the Lord and draw closer to Him. The virtues that I will also gain from my self-denial will be invaluable and unrelenting. I want to invite you dear reader to join me in austerity and let us reap the spiritual rewards and offer our sacrifices for the poor souls in Purgatory, the salvation of souls and the conversion of sinners. We may not become like the great saints but our efforts will not go unnnoticed in heaven, where ultimately we all desire to join Our Creator one sweet day. Amen!

AN INTRODUCTION

For me, it always has to do with a good book. Death to my Credit Cards, my first blog, was born after I finished reading Rich Dad, Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki. It made me realize that debt is the opposite of freedom that's why I had to cut all my credit cards in half. Although Robert Kiyosaki's book is not the greatest resource on debt and money, his insights have paved the way for me to learn about financial literacy. And this is how I came across my favorite mentor Dave Ramsey. His take on debt is phenomenal...Debt is dumb. Most normal people are just plain broke because they are in debt up to their eyeballs with no hope of help. If you're in debt, then you're a slave because you do not have the freedom to use your money to help change your family tree. He has inspired me to change my bad habits on spending and saving. Too bad I didn't get to meet him 5 years earlier. But that's life, live and learn.

This time the book that has dramatically shifted my perspective in life is called The School of Self-Applied Prevention E-book I by the Barefoot Herbalist. It is about curing all kinds of disease by means of fasting and and eating the right combination of foods. The author, Dr. William Howard Hay, M.D. has studied how complex the human body is that it can cure itself without the aid of drugs or chemicals. In the introductory it is said that, The goal of this school is to enable the average person to be their own doctor. To educate them into understanding that they are the only ones who can be their doctor. To demonstrate there once existed many medical doctors that gave up their practice of using drugs and operations and ran successful clinics that specialized in obeying “NATURE”. The beginner books will give ample medical proofs of what disease is and the simple, almost no cost cures. These books will show that only when a person obeys “NATURE” can a cure be had and to not obey “NATURE”, can be no more than a treatment that can never last. Such profound revelation will never be construed by the public simply because we have been brainwashed by media and the medical profession for years. Unfortunately, I had to watch my children suffer from allopathic or pharmaceutical drugs before I learned the natural way to cure sickness. Prevention is the best cure and abstaining is the way to go for me. I believe that through prayer, fasting and abstinence I will find not only my financial freedom but also spiritual growth and mental and emotional development.

From time to time dear reader you will find me quoting parts of the Ebook The School of Self-Applied Prevention in my blog simply because I have discovered that physical and mental development are interconnected with spiritual maturity. You will realize how you can use fasting and abstinence in reaching a higher level of divine understanding and substantial improvement. Jesus and great saints like Padre Pio of Petrielcina and many others have used fasting to prepare themselves spiritually and to atone for the sins of others. But fasting was never really recognized as a healing mechanism and as an important process in the detoxification and purification of the physical body. Abstaining from food not only strengthens the immune system, it makes the mental processes more receptive and sharper than before. And it definitely makes one's spirit more resistant to temptations. But I am getting way ahead of myself here. In the following weeks, dear reader, you will learn how important it is for man to live a healthy spiritual and physical state by curbing all kinds of excessive craving of all sorts. You will be surprised by the paradox of mother nature and then you will finally know how it feels to find freedom in the truth that you never thought existed before or was hidden from mankind for many years.

May the Lord guide me in showing you that significance is more important than success and that abstinence can lead to physical and spiritual gain.
